RT60 Measurement via app - simple, fast & precise
With VQ AcousticCheck, the reverberation time can be measured easily, quickly and with very high accuracy - even by people without acoustic expertise.
Measure the reverberation time of a room in under 5 minutes...
With VQ AcousticCheck you can determine the reverberation time of a room depending on the frequency and averaged in just a few minutes. This saves you time without having to sacrifice accuracy!
...with only your mobile device and portable speaker...
All you need for the measurement is an iPhone or iPad and, for the most accurate results, any portable Bluetooth speaker. For orientation measurements just your mobile device will suffice.
...with the accuracy of a professional measuring device.
Several comparative measurements in a university context and by specialised engineering firms have shown that the accuracy of VQ AcousticCheck is identical to that of professional measuring equipment when used as recommended.

How it works - from download to result in under 5 minutes!
1
Download and start the app
Install VQ AcousticCheck for free and access simple, fast and accurate acoustic measurements directly from your iOS device.
2
Perform measurements intuitively
Start a measurement and the app will guide you intuitively through the process step by step. This makes the app easy to use, whether you are a layperson or an experienced acoustician.
3
Display results in detail
Once the measurement has been completed, the reverberation time is displayed by frequency and averaged. The results are also displayed graphically in a diagram.
4
Optional: Transfer results to VQ Studio and create acoustic concepts
Export the results to VQ Studio to automatically create acoustic concepts and improve room acoustics.
Helpful features for the optimal measuring experience - even for non-experts
With the design and features of VQ AcousticCheck, we always tried to ensure ease of use for everyone - from inexperienced amateurs to acoustic professionals.
Simple, short introduction via tutorial
When you start VQ AcousticCheck for the first time, you will receive a brief introduction in the form of a tutorial. This is supplemented by instructions and personal support.
Measurement by impulse or sweep method
Either the sweep method (recommended for its accuracy) or the impulse method can be used for the measurement.
Safety mechanisms & accuracy specification
To optimise the app for inexperienced users, the measurement process contains helpful tips and safety mechanisms to prevent errors.
Detailed output of the reverberation time
After the measurement, the reverberation time is displayed as a frequency-dependent (125 to 4,000 Hz) and averaged value and plotted as a chart.
Sending results (incl. diagram & CSV file)
After completing the measurement, you can save and/or send the results. You will find details of your measurement in the CSV file.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
We have listed a few of the most frequently asked questions for you below. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
How accurate are the results of the measurement?
When measured professionally with a suitable portable loudspeaker, the accuracy of VQ AcousticCheck comes very close to that of professional measuring systems. When measuring with impulsive sources, abnormalities can occur more frequently at 125 and 250 Hz, which can lead to less accurate results. It is therefore recommended to measure with an loudspeaker and the sweep method.
How much experience do I need to carry out measurements?
Our app has been specifically designed for people without acoustic expertise by describing the individual steps in an understandable way and reducing them to a minimum. This means that even people who are familiar with the use of apps but have no previous experience with acoustic measurements can use the app without any problems.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a measurement with VQ AcousticCheck?
The advantages of VQ AcousticCheck should be clear. Acoustic measurements can be carried out quickly, easily and accurately without a great deal of previous experience. The app is intuitive and minimises the number of functions. One disadvantage of the app is that it is currently only available for iOS. In very large rooms, a correspondingly loud (usually large) external loudspeaker is required to achieve good results; in small to normal-sized rooms, a small Bluetooth loudspeaker is sufficient.
Is VQ AcousticCheck only available for iOS?
The app is currently only available for iOS, as the capabilities of Apple devices are more suitable to achieve highly accurate results. We are working hard to ensure the same accuracy across all Android devices for a future Android release.
Do I need an external microphone?
No. The use of a dedicated measurement microphone can increase the accuracy even further, but due to the focus on Apple devices, very accurate results can also be achieved with the integrated microphone.
What kind of rooms can I measure with the app?
VQ AcousticCheck is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized rooms, as it can deliver very accurate results. In larger rooms (very large open-plan offices, sports halls and event halls), a sufficiently powerful loudspeaker must be used. With a small, not very powerful loudspeaker, it will be difficult to achieve very accurate results in such rooms. This limitation is due to the power of the individual loudspeaker and not due to the technical feasibility of the app.
